A new calf brings hope for rhino conservation
Birth is always a celebration! It signifies new beginnings, hope and the continuation of a species. And when it comes to the birth of a healthy, bouncy rhino calf, celebrations always turn into jubilation!
The new addition at CFW, which was born on Sunday and has yet to be named, made history by becoming the world’s first-ever rhino calf to be conceived and birthed naturally to parents that were both orphaned due to poaching.
Wynter's journey with CFW started in July 2014, when she arrived at the sanctuary after being saved by tourists in the Kruger National Park. The tiny, mauled Wynter was in critical condition on arrival, and knew if she would survive. Not only had she lost her mother to heartless poachers, but she had also been attacked by a cackle of hyena, resulting in life-threatening injuries.
Congratulations Wyntir, Storm and Care for Wild.
